Proceed Rough Irregular Texture has some unique qualities about it that can be exploited to your advantage. Inside the material is an aggregate that is easily crushed. When this aggregate is crushed it can create some bursting color effects that look quite aesthetically pleasing. Here is a simple effect that you can try and then develop a coloring system for and sell to your clients:

  1. Water down the first coat of RIT and apply it with a roller evenly on the wall.
  2. Trowel on the second coat with a tight skimming action that keeps the material flat.
  3. Repeat tight skimming layer and watch the crushable aggregate create great visual effects.

The bursting that occurs will develop with each layer you decide to put on. This will generate a parchment paper like look fr the wall with an extremely unique tactile experience.
