Adding Talc

Talc is powdered Magnesium Sulphate. Talc is one of the primary fillers used in paint making to decrease the sheen. You can buy unscented talc from a pharmacy or go to a local chemical supplier and they will have many different grades of talc.

Adding talc to glaze

You can add talc to the Proceed Glaze by pouring it in (While wearing a dust mask!) and then mixing it with a brush.

  • Start with 3-5% and paint a swatch on a small index card to dry. Slowly increase your percentage and then look at all of your dried results.
  • You will notice that talc will decrease the sheen of the glaze all the way to a dead flat as you reach the 10% range.
  • This will also increase your thickness and speed up your drying time too.
